High School Band sure has changed in the last 25 years! These kids work their tails off, and at Bell HS it pays off. Last week was Bands of America (BOA) Regionals at Mavericks Stadium at UTA. Bell got second in music, first in visual, first in general effect, and first overall. Caitlin's first win! Hopefully they can repeat it next Saturday at Super Regionals in San Antonio, and again at Grand Nationals in Indianapolis on November 14.
This is a picture of the band at the beginning of their show.
One of the most impressive sights all night was at the end when they had the 10 finalist bands march out onto the field from one spot and then separate into their individual bands.
A few weeks ago the band did a Marchathon to raise money. Each year they march through a different part of town. This year it was mostly through Hurst. They played a concert at Chik fil A near the Northeast Mall, and one at the Target at Precinct Line and 183.
That's Caitlin in the sunglasses and knee brace. She even let Ashtyn sit with her at lunch. They had hot dogs at one of the elementary schools.
Today is the HEB marching contest at Pennington Field. I'm working first aid from noon until 2, and Caitlin is working 2-4. She has practice 4:30-6, then meets at 8 for practice again before their 9:30 exhibition. Next Saturday they leave at 5 am for San Antonio and won't get back until that time Sunday morning. They rent buses for the long trips.

Yesterday was Field Day, Ashtyn's last since she'll be in Junior High next year. They had about 25 stations set up outside and in the gym. She had a ball!

Matt had been busy building with wood lately. Here are his last two creations.

The front of the table is actually the front of a drawer. I have all my phone books, stamps, envelopes, etc. in there. I love both the pieces of furniture!
